We are excited to host the Tri-Valley League Track Meet on May 14, and we need your help to make it a success.
Hosting a meet of this size takes a strong team, and we are looking for volunteers to assist with a variety of roles throughout the day. No prior experience is necessary—just a willingness to help and support our student-athletes.

Here are some pictures from the Emporia State University’s Jazz Band performance at Bluestem today! Dr. Gary Ziek brought the band out to perform for the high school band as part of their Spring tour. It was a great performance!

Margaret Crafton placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for her acrylic painting titled, “A Stigmatism.” Katelyn Billings placed 1st and 2nd for her drawing titled, “Framed Frogs.” Ava Cherry Placed 2nd for her printmaking artwork titled, “Nostalgic Picnic Memories.” Elsie Lamphier placed 2nd for her mixed media artwork titled, “Rose.” Congratulations again to all of those whose artworks were selected for the competition.

BES Honor Choir is doing our annual student blanket fundraiser!
Each student in Bluestem Elementary grades K-6 has chosen a yarn to be crocheted into their own line to make a cozy blanket that represents Bluestem Elementary School!
We will also raffle off a piece of pottery and a piece of stained glass artwork.
Purchase a ticket to win this hand-crafted item!
Tickets are $5 a piece, or $20 for 5 tickets
Tickets can be purchased in the BES office or from an Honor Choir Member.
Raffle will take place at our Honor Choir concert on May 7th at 7 p.m. - you do not need to be present to win!

Just a reminder about the Famous Kansan Wax Museum by our fourth grade classes.
PTO is sending home order forms for the Lion shirts. There was a lot of interest from parents to purchase extra shirts. Order forms and payment must be turned into the elementary office no later than May 4th.
On Wednesday 04/22 the Bluestem FFA traveled to Newton High School to compete in the 2026 Freshman Ag Mechanics contest. The two freshman competitors completed a safety test, a welding test, tool identification, metal bandsaw part identification and a problem solving test. A big congratulations to both competitors on their success, as Kooper Wiseman placed 3rd and received a new Miller Electric welding hood and a bronze medal, and Cole Myers placed 18th out of 125 competitors and received a baseball cap.

Blakely Jones and Brody Baker both won average buckles this weekend at Dodge City’s rodeo. Blakely also won the All Around! Congrats!!! 🤠
