Classroom Grants Announcement from BASE

Bluestem Association for Student Education (BASE) is a Foundation for Bluestem Schools, providing opportunities for innovative and creative ideas for Bluestem students. BASE encourages you to consider making an application for a classroom grant. Be creative in thinking of a project, idea or field trip that you belive will enhance the learning experience of your students. The foundation has approved funds of $2500.00 to support teachers and students in USD 205. Our current amount of teacher grants given is $46,300. Last year we funded $3501.90 in grants, and we’ve funded $257.90 so far this year. Download the classroom grant application and guidelines. The application is quite simple and grants are awarded on a first come, first served basis. BASE accepts grants until the funds run out. This opportunity is one you don't want to miss, so don't delay!

For larger requests, up to $5000.00, Kansas Gas Services ONEOK Foundation will consider grant proposals from BASE. You may submit your idea to BASE using the same BASE Classroom Grant Application. The ONEOK request is due to BASE by November 1st of the current year. BASE will consider all applications and select one to submit to ONEOK. ONEOK announces their grant recipients in the spring and funding is awarded for the following school year.

In previous years, BASE was pleased to make available grant funds for a business etiquette field trip, weight training equipment, video equipment, health curriculum, microphone headsets, digital photography and for partial funding of an iPod lab.

Classroom grants are funded in part by payroll deductions by USD 205 employees and gifts from district patrons. The BASE Foundation would like to thank everyone who has donated to BASE for making these grant awards possible. For more information about BASE, please contact Barb Gomez bgomez@frontieroil-eld.com, Jimna Knapp jknap@hughes.net, Toni Harryman toni4041@netzero.net or Connie Chilcott stanconnie1@sktc.net. BASE meets the last Wednesday of each month.
