The Board participated in a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Bluestem Elementary School Agriculture Barn that will be located on the north side of the school.

The Board approved the consent agenda that included approval of the July 18, 2016 regular meeting minutes and financial reports and claims.

The Board heard staff reports.

The Board opened the meeting for the 2016-17 budget hearing.  There was no public comment on the budget.  The Board adopted the 2016-17 budget as presented.  The local mill rate goes down 7.424 mills. USD 205 remains the lowest total tax levy for school districts in Butler County at 48.061 mills.

Marina Emmons addressed the Board during public participation forum requesting the use of the tables from the old gym to be used during the Harvest Home Festival. Marie Masterson addressed the Board sharing ideas on the possibility of consolidating Bluestem and Flint Hills school districts.

The Board entered a series of executive sessions to discuss non-elected personnel.

The Board accepted a letter of resignation from Kenzi Minks, BHS Assistant Girls Basketball Coach.

The Board accepted a letter of resignation from Mark Womacks, BHS Head Girls Basketball Coach.

The Board approved the supplemental contracts for:

    Drivers Education: Pete Cisneros

    PDC Chair: Jeff Eastman

    PDC Building Asst: Lori Self & Angela Glaves

    Robotics Club: Amy Rishell

The meeting adjourned at 8:20 pm.
