The Board toured the district facilities from 5:30 pm – 6:45 pm before returning to the District Office for the budget hearing.

The Board approved the consent agenda that included approval of the July 21, 2014 regular meeting minutes; financial reports and claims; and a letter verifying personnel changes on particular Vintage Bank accounts.

The Board heard reports from the principals and other staff members. Initial participation in fall activities is: HSFB=37; HSVB=23; HSDance=7; HSCheer=8; MSFB=17; MSVB=13; MSCheer=4. Information was shared with the Board on current enrollment numbers and on insurance rate increases.

The Board opened the meeting for the 2014-15 budget hearing.  There was no public comment on the budget.  The Board adopted the 2014-15 budget as published.  The local mill rate goes down over 9 mills.  This is due to the district nearing its final principal payment on Bluestem Elementary School. 

The Board’s public participation forum was opened with no one wishing to speak.

The Board entered a series of executive sessions to discuss employee/employer negotiations and non-elected personnel.

The Board accepted a letter of retirement from Clara Zogleman, BES food service.

The Board approved the employment of:

    Amy Rishell: 7th/8th science teacher

    Trish Dupuy: full time evening custodian

    Duke Brandt: full time evening custodian

    Amanda Trent: BES Classroom Aide

    Susie Oltman: BES Title I Aide

The Board approved the supplemental contracts for Gavin Wuthrich as the BJSHS Steering Committee member and Augie Schmidt as the 7-12 Assistant Football Coach.

The Board ratified the professional agreement with the Bluestem Teachers association.   As part of the agreement, licensed staff will receive a $30 per month increase in district health insurance contributions.  Licensed staff will receive step and column movement on the new modified salary schedule.

The Board approved to terminate the employment of Tara King as BJSHS evening custodian.

The Board approved a change in job description for Tim Donnelley from custodial to maintenance.

The Board approved a 2.25% raise for all classified employees and a $30 per month increase in district health insurance contributions.

The meeting adjourned at 8:10 pm.
