Board Meeting Notes
March 10, 2014

The Board approved the consent agenda that included minutes of the February 10th, 2014 regular meeting, the February 12th, 13th, 17th, 18th and 20th special meetings, financial reports and claims, the 2014-15 school year calendar, updates to board policy 2015 Policy for Governing Academics and modification of the Haverhill school lease agreement due to the changes in the special education coop.

The Board heard staff reports including presentations from BES art students and the BES preschoolers.  Mr. Rivers briefed the board on the Kansas Supreme Court’s Gannon decision. 

The Board approved the purchase of new bleachers for the BJSHS gym. The cost of the project was approved at $120,712.

The Board reviewed administrative recommendations for updates to the 2014-15 student handbook.  The Board will take final action on these changes at the April meeting.

One patron spoke during the public participation forum.

The Board entered a series of executive sessions to discuss non-elected personnel.

The Board accepted the resignation of Peter Bryant as BHS assistant boys basketball coach.

The Board accepted the retirement request of Pam Fleming effective at the end of the school year.

The Board employed Devin Metzinger as 2014-15 BJSHS math teacher.

The Board employed Manny Zermeno and Jennifer Alonso as district custodians.

The Board approved the transfer of Marie Masterson from 1st grade to Title I services for the 2014-15 school year.

The Board appointed Brian Minks to the position of BJSHS principal for the 2014-15 school year.

The meeting adjourned at 9:23 PM.
