Spirit of Atlanta Drum Corp Visits Bluestem

Bluestem School District had the honor of hosting Drums Across Kansas drum corp, “Spirit of Atlanta” from Atlanta, GA on July 16th and 17th.  Each year numerous drum corps from across the United States travel and perform their shows at an evening showcase in Wichita, KS.   In order to practice and prepare for this performance the groups often stay at area schools, and for the past 2 years Bluestem has had the privilege of hosting.

“Spirit of Atlanta” is a corp made up of 150 brass, percussion, and color guard members between the ages of 15 to 22.  Members of the corp are from all over the United States, Canada, Great Britain, and Japan and selected based on musical ability, professionalism, attitude, and movement skills.  Their shows are performed in outdoor stadiums and are about 11 minutes long and integrate numerous facets of skills.

Pictures are attached from the corps rehearsals at Bluestem.   Thank you to all who helped to make this group welcome and we look forward to hosting future groups!
