4th Graders "MEET" Michigan Students
With the help of NEA's Read Across the Planet program, Ms. Baker's 4th graders connected with Beaverton, Michigan 4th graders in order to make reading presentations. The classes were able to see and hear one another thanks to the district's interactive distance learning equipment. Bluestem 4th graders introduced themselves by telling the name of their favorite book, then gave a brief presentation about Leon and Kansas. The Beaverton Beavers had been working on a poetry unit, so they read poems after their presentation about Michigan. The most exciting part for the Bluestem 4th graders was acting out Reader's Theater scripts for the other class. It was a great opportunity for the students to interact with and talk to children their own age from another state.
