Driver's Education (Summer)
Driver education is a summer program designed to give students a
real life experience behind he steering wheel of a car. Driver
education has two components to the curriculum, the first being an
class experience where students study a related information that
pertains to the task of driving, rules of the road, and Kansas'
laws. The second part is the car experience where students learn
'hands on' skills that allow them to properly operate a motor
vehicle. Students will be required to follow all safety rules as
well as the traffic laws of Kansas. This course is intended as an
introduction to the driving experience. Each student who
satisfactorily completes the course will receive 1/4 credit and a
course completion slip which they can take to the local 'DMV' to
obtain their personal driver's license. Parents and students should
realize that this is an actual on the road experience and with that
experience comes some obvious and possible life threatening
hazards. Parents and students alike should consider and accept risk
fully before enrolling their child in a potentially hazardous
class. All students will be required to pass the districts drug
test prior to being allowed to participate.
