Bluestem Opts For 4-day Calendar in 2010-2011
After over a year of study, discussion and enduring significant budget reductions, the Bluestem USD 205 Board of education voted on Monday, February 8, 2010 to implement a 4-day a week school calendar in 2010-11. In the end, the savings to be generated by the change will save several instructional aide positions and an instructional program at Bluestem High school. Logistical planning for the actual calendar, bell schedules and other policy modifications will take place over the next several months.
District personnel will be proactive in working with the staff and community to prepare for this change in 2010-11. Parents, staff and community are encouraged to share questions and suggestions dealing with the logistics of implementation.
