David Kohls Memorial Scholarship Established

Bluestem Association for Student’s Education (BASE) is pleased to announce the establishment of the David Kohls Memorial Scholarship. The Kohls family established a memorial fund with BASE, to which over $13,000 has been donated to date. The family has chosen to honor David’s memory by creating an endowed scholarship which will be awarded for the first time in the spring of 2009. The recipient must be a Bluestem senior who is continuing his or her education on the college level, and who has participated in athletics during his or her high school career. In addition to the scholarship, the memorial fund will also provide an annual gift to benefit the libraries of USD 205. The Kohls family wishes to thank all who have contributed to this memorial in David’s honor.
David Kohls was a long-time resident of the USD 205 school district and a much-loved and respected employee of the district for many years. David served the district in many roles, including teacher, principal, activities director and coach. He touched countless numbers of lives during his career, is remembered fondly, and mourned deeply by all who knew him. BASE, a non-profit foundation created to benefit the students of USD 205, is honored to be able to assist the Kohls family in creating this memorial in his honor.
