COMBINING ELEMENTARY BUILDINGS

BLUESTEM ELEMENTARY--HAVERHILL

At a regular meeting of Bluestem USD No. 205 Board of Education on April 14, 2008, action was taken to combine Bluestem Elementary-Leon and Bluestem Elementary-Haverhill into one elementary building. All district students grades K-6 will attend Bluestem Elementary-Leon at the beginning of the 2008-09 school year.

The Board appreciates all of the time and effort by patrons and employees that helped in making this difficult decision. Due to low enrollment at Bluestem Elementary-Haverhill and declining enrollment in the entire district the Board’s decision was in the best interest of each and every student attending Bluestem USD No. 205. A community meeting was held in February and a hearing as required by State Law was held April 7 regarding the closing of Bluestem Elementary-Haverhill.

Bluestem Elementary – Haverhill has been an important part of Bluestem USD No. 205 for many years. A celebration of the history of Bluestem Elementary-Haverhill is being planned at this time and details will be released in the near future.
