Picturing America Grant

by Susie Brack

April 03, 2008

Bluestem Middle School and Bluestem Elementary Leon are happy to announce their applications for the "Picturing America" grant were accepted. The program was made possible through the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association. Each school received a set of 20 laminated two-sided posters of famous works of art created by American artists. The dates of the pieces range from 1100 A.D. - 1996. The idea behind this program is to bring our students face to face with the people, places, and events that have shaped our country, and to provide them with an innovative way to experience America’s history through our nation’s art. The posters are magnificent and it is a pleasure to display them in our schools.
