B.A.S.E. Awards $3000 in Teacher Grants
January 30, 2008
Each school year the B.A.S.E. Foundation awards teacher/classroom grants to help fund projects that are not within the regular school budget. This year B.A.S.E. gave a total of $3000 to the schools for this purpose. Grant requests come from educators in the Bluestem school district who are looking for ways to fund innovative programs and equipment to enhance their students’ education. Grants are awarded for requests that meet the B.A.S.E. guidelines on a first come, first served basis.
This year B.A.S.E. was pleased to provide grant funds for the purchase of an LCD projector and screen for use in the high school history classroom, a portable sound system for elementary school programs, books to supplement a classroom library, a visit from a nationally known illustrator of children’s books, a high school civic project to improve the garden at Bluestem Elementary- Leon, and the purchase of a pottery throwing wheel for Bluestem High School.
Teacher grants are funded in part by payroll deductions by USD 205 employees and gifts from district patrons. The B.A.S.E. Foundation would like to thank everyone who has donated to B.A.S.E for making these grant awards possible this year.
