Transportation Tips

by Kathy Metsker

January 25, 2008

he Bluestem Transportation Department would like to remind the community of a few safety tips to practice while traveling on the bus or driving in your car. We would encourage parents to remind their child(ren) to always obey the bus safety rules.

Your bus arrival may be later than normal due to the weather conditions, our drivers and students safety are always important to us.

Parents are strongly encourage to dress their children appropriate to the weather conditions and not to leave your child(ren) at the bus stop unattended. If parents have concerns about the extreme temperatures, they should feel free to keep their students at home.

The large yellow flashing lights on a school bus means the bus is slowing down to a complete stop. The red flashing lights and the red flashing stop sign on a school bus means all vehicles traveling towards and behind the bus should stop. The bus will be loading or unloading children off the bus. Please keep in mind the children may not see you, so please take extra precaution around the children. If you have any questions, contact the transportation department 742-3677.
